Meet Lyneen Jesse

My mother was and still is very artistic; as we grew up we always made gifts for our grandparents. Creating things was part of life at a very young age.  She had tubes of cake decorating frosting in my hands before I could write.  At times I have been called the MacGyver of paper (that is if you remember who MacGyver was on the 80's TV series).  You think it can be made from paper, I can make it happen.

An avid stamper, scrapper, altered artist and collector of vintage treasures. Rubber stamping has been a love of mine before rubber stamping was popular. I am the proud owner of thousands of stamps! When I go on vacation I research where the closest stamp, scrap or craft and antique stores are to our destination; then plan my days accordingly. Isn’t that what vacations are for... visiting the places you love! Like many my style has evolved over time. Vintage has got to be my all time favorite.  I am flattered to be apart of this group of such amazing artists!

Meet Beth Shea

"Where things came from, who made them and how things were put together have been the three questions that have propelled me into the world of art, metal and mixed media. I started as a kid, beachcombing (in February, in Maine) with my mom and unearthing backyard treasures with my brother. My father was a hobby woodworker and was the first to put tools in my hands. Being the only granddaughter, my grandfather decided that I would do what the boys did...he gave me my first knife (after I mastered whittling without losing adigit) and my first gun (after I could shoot three cans in a row off the back fence without falling over). As I grew, my grandmother tried to turn me into a real girl (I still wore dresses when I climbed trees) and introduced me to her vast collection of retro 50's costume jewelry. Sure the sparkles were pretty, but I wanted to know how it was put together. After dismantling some of her nice Swarovski crystal and Japanese lampwork, she gave me some beads and it has been a long term love affair ever since."

Beth will be exhibiting her found object jewelry, vintage metal, beads andhandmade creations.

Meet Kris Covarrubias

I have been crafting most of my life. I made stuffed toys and clothes for my Barbie and bought my first jar of Mod Podge when I was 13. My Mom always received (and graciously accepted) some sort of hand crafted item for her birthday or Mother’s Day. I was really turned on to the world of paper crafting and found objects while co-owner of The Embossible Dream Rubber Art Stamps in downtown Bremerton . I started looking at bottle caps, bus tickets, Band-aids (just kidding) and labels in a whole new light. I keep a plastic bag in my purse for just such finds. These days, I am trying to be a good steward and use what I have “collected.” I love ATC’s. My favorite subject….my Moms’ relatives. I can’t help myself.

“Honestly Helen” Goods (just stuff) honors my parents Helen and Harold Rogers. Their collection of memorabilia, which I will fancy up here and call “ephemera”, opened up a new era of paper crafting for me. I recently returned from a visit to their house with a carload! Included in the treasures were my Grandpa’s autograph book, cards, pictures galore and even the bill from Mom’s stay in the hospital when my older brother was born….$72.00!

Meet Mary Jo Whalen

"Childhood memories of clothing and gifts made by my mother and grandmother have provided a lifetime of inspiration and a desire to continually try new craft and needlework techniques. I enjoy working in the mediums of quilting, sewing, polymer and precious metal clay, stained glass, fused glass, flamework, ribbonwork, embroidery, pin weaving, dollmaking, needle-felting and beadwork. Projects created from fabric, fiber, paper, glass and clay are a few of my current favorites."
Jo's creations for this Mixed-Media Market include art quilts and vintage flea market treasures.

Meet Catherine Mitchell

"My mother instilled in me a love for nature and crafting from an early age. Fond memories include trips to the "Dime Store," with allowance in hand, anticipation building at the thought of the waiting array of trays filled to the brim with sparking rhinestones, beads and sequins. Back then, I kept my collection in a special jar, tenderly examining the contents each day. Not much has changed today; I still have the same joyous passion for collecting embellishments. Some of my favorite treasures find their way into mixed-media artwork, while others are offered for sale through MudBay Embellishment Company."

Catherine's offerings for this Mixed-Media Market include mixed-media artwork, vintage glass embellishments, vintage-style brass stampings, fiber/embellishment collections, and vintage flea market treasures.

Meet Penny Morse

A few words from Penny about her lovely, vintage items:

"What inspired me to collect? Living in New England with all the antique shops and flea markets and all the interesting items available. Plus, I am a history buff so anything with a story is fascinating - or something I would love to know the story behind! So, I am trying to part with some of my personal treasures plus am re-working a few vintage finds."

Meet Linda Freeman

" For as long as I can remember I've been a crafter of one thing or another. Creating is a magical process for me...it conjures up memories of the girl I once was, sprawled on the floor with my paper and crayons scattered around me, happily lost in my own world. Today, it's just as easy for me to get lost in the world of mixed media art. One day, I'll create a collage, the next a bracelet and the next, an artist trading card. Lately, I've enjoyed making charms and junk jewelry. I've always been drawn to things old and discarded - old paper and faded photos, rusty metal bits, broken dolls. I love to take these wonderful old things and give them a new story to tell."

Linda's creations for this Mixed-Media Market include vintage button brooches, vintage-style tags, bejeweled bookmarks and glass pendant necklaces.
